Camille Oostwegel is every inch a Limburg hotelier. As a young boy, he already had a passion for history, culture and gastronomy. In 1969, he began his studies at the Hotel Management College in Maastricht. He graduated in 1972. From 1972 to 1980, Camille Oostwegel worked at various branches of Novotel. During this period, he quickly became operations director and advisor for the first Novotel branches outside France (for example in Antwerp, Luxembourg, Saarbrücken, Schiedam and Breda).
After having worked abroad for a few years, he returned to Limburg around 1980 and took his first steps as an independent entrepreneur. He started out with four employees in his first restaurant, Kasteel Erenstein. Since then, his business has grown dramatically, now employing around 400 people in three hotels and seven restaurants (Château Neercanne, WinselerHof, Château St. Gerlach en Kruisherenhotel Maastricht).
